Families In Need

The Families In Need (F.I.N.) Fund is to help students in Seminole County reach stability as quickly as possible that are on the brink of homelessness. Florida has the highest rate of homelessness in the nation. Students who are homeless or on the brink of homelessness often experience school transfers, excessive absences, an inability to complete homework, and learning losses. This is where FIN comes in to help support these families so that the student can get back to the most important thing which is learning!

The following services are funded by FIN to assist these families reach independence:

  • Support for families in motel housing or shelters - Providing assistance with basic needs and tutoring
  • Supportive case management for stabilization in the workforce - Training, education, resume building, childcare
  • Provide access to that support learning at school sites
  • Provide emergency transportation in support of enrollment, participation in meetings, and activities at school
  • Provide basic needs for schooling such as food, clothing supplies
  • Provide emergency electricity, power, and support to continue a proper learning environment in the home
  • Transitional housing for stabilization
